Most baseboard molding can be left in place with carpet installation. This may not be the case with tile, laminate or hardwood flooring.
-
Please be aware that many print and multi-tone patterns of carpet are nearly impossible to match exactly. This is due to several factors in the manufacturing process. Often times certain styles will require additional yardage in order for installers to achieve the very best match possible.

If the flooring consists of the entire room, you will want to take care of any painting or wall repairs BEFORE you carpet or put down new flooring.
-
Please make sure that all the rooms that will need to be worked in are cleared of furniture and ready to accept your new flooring. Any furniture that may have to be moved will possibly incur a fee by the installers.
-
If vinyl is being installed in a bathroom, please arrange for the toilet bowl to be removed prior to installers' arrival. If the toilet bowl is not removed, it is possible that a $100 fee will be incurred by the installers.
-
Remove all breakables prior to moving the actual furniture; make sure all electrical components are disconnected before you attempt to move your stereo, computer, VCR or TV.
-
The condition of the existing flooring may also mean additional expense. If the subfloor needs to be prepared with patch or leveling products, or removal of an existing floor covering is required, or your floor installation professional recommends putting down new wood underlayment, you will incur added expense. However, you will also dramatically increase the life and performance of your new flooring. As with painting and other projects, preparation of the surface is key to a successful outcome.
-
New flooring may add some height to your existing floor. Be prepared to shave the bottoms of doors, so they'll swing freely over your new flooring. Take into consideration pocket and French doors as well. You may do these adjustments yourself or ask your floor installation professional to handle it or subcontract it out.
-
Some floor installation systems are more labor or material intensive than others, and will cost a bit more. Your retailer should explain the method of floor installation and whether or not you will be incurring additional cost.
